"Borrowed" DW Fic!
* Warning! * This Post Contains Mild Spoilers for The Time of Angels (episode 4 of Series 5)

Those who have read my stories may have noticed a similarity between the opening sequence of The Time of Angels and my fic Edge of Doom. I watched the beginning of the episode with a dropped jaw. The similarities cannot be a coincidence! I don't know whether to be ticked off that Moffat stole part of my story . . . or to jump up and down and squeal because Moffat read my story! And liked it! Enough to steal it. :P

Just to clarify, here's a comparison of Edge of Doom and The Time of Angels.

* The Doctor runs through a museum, with a redheaded companion named Amy Pond. (TToA)
* The Doctor runs through a museum, with a redheaded companion named Sinead. (EoD)

* The Doctor finds an ancient artifact (a "home box"), containing a message for him. (TToA)
* The Doctor finds an ancient artifact (a newspaper), containing a message for him. (EoD)

* The Doctor steals aforementioned ancient artifact and runs back to the TARDIS with it. (TToA)
* The Doctor steals aforementioned ancient artifact and runs back to the TARDIS with it. (EoD)

* The Doctor uses the ancient artifact to pinpoint precise coordinates in time and space, in order to locate River Song. (TToA)
* The Doctor uses the ancient artifact to pinpoint precise coordinates in time and space, in order to locate Rose Tyler. (EoD)

See what I mean?

Edited to Add: He's done it again, I kid you not. A Christmas Carol . . . Only Time. Read the story, watch the episode, and tell me he didn't borrow my entire storyline!

Last time, I wasn't sure how to react. This time, I am without a doubt flattered and honored. I thought highly enough of Doctor Who to borrow it for awhile, and Doctor Who thought highly enough of my work to borrow it back. You can't ask for a better compliment than that, folks.

Well either that's coincidence OR Moffat is reading fanfic though supposedly that's a HUGE no no among TV writers....or so I thought!

OR maybe Moffat tapped whatever frequency you used when you wrote your fanfic lol!

I'd say it was just a coincidence, except it's all those different details that are the same. But, this isn't the first time elements of fan-fic have shown up in canon. (*cough-cough* Nekkid Doctor driving the TARDIS *cough-cough*) I seem to recall that it's happened with other TV shows, too.

Hee! I totally thought of your fic when I watched the episode!

But... and I might just be a party pooper... I think the Doctor being in a museum isn't exactly a unique thing. :/ Though I will admit it's hugely similar in circumstances and what takes place and all that.

Haha they say plagiarism is the highest form of flattery, though I never felt flattered when something was stolen from me. In this case though, if that's what happened, I'd be rather squeeful, I think. :D

Yeah, if it was just his being in a museum, I'd say no big deal. But all the other details too? I guess it's fair, though: we steal Doctor Who from them, by writing fanfic; in turn, they steal our best ideas. :)
